The Latest Creative Way
to Support the Foodbank
“Tri-County Produce as a Local Business Doing Good While Doing Good Business”
Tri-County Produce did a tremendous job supporting the Foodbank of Santa Barbara County during Rincon Broadcasting’s “Food for Families” Food Drive campaign.
The company, which was purchased in 1985 by Jim Dixon and his son, John, came up with a very creative way for their shoppers to donate food or money to the Foodbank.
John Dixon, the general manager, put together an amazing promotion that gathered a generous donation from customers, as well as an additional gift from Tri-County Produce.
The Opportunity:
He allowed his customers to donate towards potatoes, or carrots or to give $15.00 for a family pack of produce. His cash registers were set with item buttons for these particular items, and he created a contest for the employee who "sold" the most, receiving the most donations.
“The customers really got into it, and were very grateful,” said Dixon.
The Foodbank is very grateful for the wonderful support the owners and staff have given us and the creative effort they put into the food drive is wonderful! We look forward to other organizations and businesses being as creative and helping us feed the hungry of Santa Barbara County.

The creative staff and owners, Jim and John Dixon, of Tri-County Produce.
