As a solution to the increasing problems of childhood hunger and the many associated issues, the Foodbank has launched the Children’s Hunger Initiative. Our goal is to alleviate childhood hunger, address the consequences of poor nutrition and inspire action. Through partnerships with established local organizations the Children’s Hunger Initiative implemented the BackPack Program designed to improve the availability of nutritional foods to at-risk-children as well as working to make nutrition education, personal hygiene, and food safety a regular part of their daily lives.
